Abstract

Background: Sodium fluorescein (FS) is a dye, of the xanthene type, used in the surgical field both for ophthalmological procedures; in the latter, currently a barrier applied to the delimitation of hematomas in a BHE case (the latter for different types of hematomas in a BHE case, such as the different types of hematomas, such as the various types of hematomas.

Aim: To review the literature regarding the clinical uses of fluorescein in medical practice.

Method: The bibliographic databases were Scielo and Lilacs, and the search used the Publish or Perish tool.

Results: The use of fluorescein-only rupture was effective in the process of total tumor resection (GTR) of severe tumors with a good margin of safety and high specificity, due to its potential for accumulation in the regions of BBB resection and accurately delineating the tumor region.

Conclusion: The use of sodium fluorescein can be used both in ophthalmology and neurosurgery.
